Choosing an Electric Dog Fence-Wireless or Underground?

Your most important job as a dog owner is keeping him/her safe, right?  One of the most common ways that our dogs or cats get hurt, or worse, is by getting away from the safety of his/her own yard.  But who has the money these days for conventional fencing?  You can save your money, and at the same time ensure that your dog is safe in your yard.

Now, you have a couple of choices when it comes to an electric dog fence.  Wireless or Underground.

You can choose the very simple, amazing Wireless Dog Fence System by PetSafe OR the brand new "WiFi" system by Perimeter Technologies.  If you can plug in a cord, you can install a Wireless Dog Fence!  You simply plug the transmitter in-doors, put the receiver collar on your dog, and the wireless system helps keep your dog in his/her designated area.  There are some of you that the wireless system might not work for.  If you have an extremely large amount of land, or you have a house with a metal roof or siding, you will need to choose an underground electric dog fence.  The Petsafe wireless system covers up to a circular 1/2 acre per transmitter.  You can purchase additional transmitters, but if you have more than an acre, I'd go with an underground fence.   The Perimeter WiFi System can cover up to 2.5 acres.  So, if you have less than 2 acres, and you don't have a metal roof/siding, then this is the electric dog fence system for you.

The underground dog fence is also an excellent, inexpensive option for keeping your dog safe.  They do take a little more time to install than the wireless system, but compared to the cost and labor of a conventional fence, they are still a simpler option.  Many people think that an in-ground, or underground dog fence is too complicated to install.  This is not true!  The electric underground dog fence will come with everything you need, including a guide that walks you step by step through every aspect of installation and training your dog.  Since there are several steps involved with an in-ground fence, it's best to think of the installation as a weekend project. Another common misconception about "Underground Fencing" is that is needs to be buried "Underground". This unfortunate but understandable misconception often scares many people away from enjoying the freedom that these dog fences provide both you and your pet. There is no need to spend a weekend burying the wire underground, or paying some one hundreds of dollars to bury the boundary wire when it can be installed above ground in only a matter of an hour or two.  Click here to learn more about this method.

So which will it be?  The Wireless Dog Fence System, or an Underground Dog Fence System (there are several to choose from.)  Either way, you will be making the choice to keep your best friend(s) as safe as possible.
